Palmyra, June 2009
As the Islamic State is being pushed out of Palmyra, we publish some pictures taken there in June 2009, so people can see how beautiful it is/was. The war is still raging and Syrian government forces have committed terrible crimes, but we hope this magnificent site will safer in their possession. Travelling to Syria is obviously discouraged at present, but let us hope it will be possible to visit again, in a not too distant future.
